Covid-secure video shoot with Megan Linford

Great to be creating with Megan again, such a talented musician and lovely person to work with.

This was the third full music video I’ve shot with Megan, plus a few rehearsal room ‘as live’ shoots, and its always a pleasure. This was for her new song ‘Lessons’ which is a very personal song for her and I was really conscious to both do the song justice and be sensitive to the memory of Meg’s good friend, Ellie Day, who features in the video.

Meg wanted to use some old footage of her growing up and her friends, particularly Ellie, and she wanted some footage playing the piano, which is a key element of the song. I suggested projecting the footage and that’s what we went with. Transferring the footage from old VHS tapes and editing together to form a projection video synced to the song, all needed to be done before even starting the shoot.

We'd planned a second shoot day based in Meg’s house but breaking my ankle kinda got in the way... so we decided to edited with the footage we had from day 1, and in the end, I like the simplicity of it.

“This one is dedicated to all my family, friends and loved ones. And all your family, friends and loved ones. A big hug to you all during this ride of a year. Let us never forget how important the people we love and the journeys we share are, even when things get tough.” - Megan Linford

In memory of Ellie Day x.
