Music video social distancing to the max
First time I’ve shot a music video with no musician, definitely socially distanced.
Russ Hibberd asked me to shoot a video for his new song ‘Radio’, its a great song reflecting on these interesting times of lockdown. I don’t often shoot videos without the musician, as I love the interaction, but that’s what Russ wanted, and it felt right for this project. The only problem was finding the ‘deserted-streets’ look of a national lockdown, as the current ‘lockdown’ had no shortage of people or traffic about. Oh, and I’d just started walking again after broken ankle surgery, excuse any wobbles in the footage ;-)
Footage at the above location was shot on a very busy main road in Portsmouth, mid morning, definitely no shortage of cars… Sometimes it just takes a lot of patience, and a blatant disregard for the green cross code, to get what’s required.
My aim was to create almost a series of ‘fine art’ black and white shots of streets with no cars or people, and closed businesses. I also resorted to a few beach shots… we do live on an island after all. See the full video below, or on Russ’ page.
Me randomly walking the streets of Portsmouth, and squeezing shots of our beloved venue, the Wedgewood rooms, into the video :)
